Gabriel's wonderful day

In Guimarães, Benfica overcame the resistance of Vitória SC and won 0-3 on Matchday 10 of the Liga Betclic. Playing at full throttle at the start of the second half of the match played at Estádio D. Afonso Henriques on Saturday night, November 1, José Mourinho's men pressed hard on the "vimaranense" defense and scored the goals that led to victory. Tomás Araújo (54'), Dahl (62'), and João Rego (87') showed their finishing skills.

The lights at Estádio da Luz were already shining beyond the final whistle, but for Martim, a young goalkeeper from Aveiro, aged just 12, the game was not over yet. After Benfica-Arouca (5-0), from Matchday 9 of the Liga Betclic, the Benfica fan experienced his own magical moment. Amid hugs, shy words, and admiring glances, he met the players and coach of the first team, took photos, and received a jersey from one of his idols, Trubin. It was the Benfica Foundation and the Club's Professional Football that opened the doors to this unforgettable encounter – and Martim left with his heart overflowing.

Benfica made a winning start to the 2025/26 League Cup.  Playing at home in front of 50,314 fans on Wednesday night (October 29), the Eagles beat Tondela 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the competition, advancing to the final four, where they will face SC Braga in early January 2026. At Estádio da Luz, Otamendi was the first to score: in the 41st minute, the captain opened the scoring from the penalty spot, shining in his 250th game wearing the eagle on his chest. Lukebakio (83') and Pavlidis (90'+5') scored the other goals for the Reds, sealing the victory.

On Wednesday night, October 29, Benfica hosted Tondela at Estádio da Luz in the quarterfinals of the League Cup. With goals from Otamendi, Lukebakio – voted Man of the Match– and Pavlidis, the Eagles won 3-0 and secured their place in the final four. See the best images from the match...
