Rochele Nunes, Benfica judoka, won the silver medal at the Baku Grand Slam in Azerbaijan on Sunday, September 24, in the +78 kg category, the first for the national colors at the event. 

In the same event, Bárbara Timo came 5th in the -63 kg category, beating Croatia's Katarina Kristo, Russia's Dali Luluashvili, who competed as a neutral, and Kosovar Laura Fazliu. The Benfica athlete ended her participation after the fight with Australia's Katharina Haecker, which ruled her out of the medals.

Telma Monteiro finished in 7th place in the -57 kg category. The judoka won her duels with South Korea's Juhee Kim and Great Britain's Nekoda Smythe-Davis. Her defeat against Georgian Eteri Liparteliani pushed her into the bronze medal match, from which she was eliminated after her fight with Israeli Timna Nelson Levy.

The Benfica judoka scored important points in the race for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
