Hapkido

The Hapkido is a South-Korean martial art, just like taekwondo. The practice of this sport integrates a wide group of exercises (throwing, falling, luxations, escapes, defense and attack) and the development of methods which constitute a real self-defense system.

The Hapkido started in Benfica, in 795, under the responsibility of one of most certified Masters, national and internationally, the Master Paulo Reis 6th DAN. During this period of 14 years, more than 150 athletes, have been training in Benfica, with about 10 black belts among them.

The Hapkido’s category has been representing the Club inside and outside the country, having won, at the Iberian Championship of Demonstration, held in Cordoba, December 807, a 1st place and two 3rd places.

The Sport Lisboa e Benfica’s School is one of the few in the country, and its association has only a school in Sintra and another in Cruz de Pau. In the rest of the country, there are a maximum of 6 other schools.

The competition in this art is confined to exhibitions, not combats. The practice of this sport is held at the Estádio da luz’s Gym, -2 floor, next to the Press Conference room, under the responsibility of the Master Paulo Reis 6th DAN.
