Women's football
The portuguese international joins Benfica's women's squad for the 2025/26 season and promises total commitment to the Eagles.

The eagle has gained wings – and speed – with another classy player who has proven herself in Portuguese women's football. At 30 years old, Diana Silva arrives at Luz with a wealth of experience and goals under her belt. Born in Amadora, she has played more than a hundred times for Portugal and has played for clubs such as Atlético Ouriense, Clube de Albergaria, Sporting, and Aston Villa (England), standing out for her speed, tactical intelligence, and finishing ability.
Shortly after formalizing her move to Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Diana Silva spoke for the first time as an Eagles' player in an exclusive interview with BTV. The Portuguese forward, who arrives with a solid track record in national and international football, was visibly enthusiastic and excited about the new challenge ahead of her.
"Right now, I can say that I am very happy to sign for one of the best clubs in the world. I can't say it any other way, I think Benfica has put their trust in me, and I also want to contribute to the club's titles. Because I know it's a very demanding club, the fans are very demanding, but that's a positive thing, and I'm really looking forward to getting started," she confessed.
"The message I want to leave [to the fans] is that I will always give my best on the pitch, and I hope they will always be on my side and on our side"

The transition will take place within the Liga BPI itself, which is also an advantage in terms of adaptation. The Portuguese international highlights the existing connection with several players in the squad, with whom she shares a dressing room in the national team.
"I think it's a positive thing that I know some of the players on the squad, having played with them before. It might make it easier to adapt because of that, but I don't expect it to be easy overall," she added.
With a career marked by achievements and constant presence on the big stage, Diana Silva arrives at Benfica with a clear ambition. Accustomed to fighting for titles both at club level and with the national team, the forward made no secret of the competitive spirit she brings to this new chapter in her career.
"In a club like this, the goal has to be to win everything there is to win," she said..
Without exaggeration, but with the confidence of someone who knows their worth, the forward described herself simply, but clearly and objectively.
"I think I'm a fast, intelligent player who can also contribute to the team and play for the team. I think those are perhaps my greatest characteristics," said the forward.
Before ending her first interview as a Benfica player, Diana Silva made a point of addressing the club's fans directly. Aware of the strength and demands of Benfica's fan base, the Portuguese international left a heartfelt message, marked by a promise of total commitment and dedication in every game she plays for the Sacred Mantle.
“The message I want to convey is that I will always give my best on the pitch, and I hope you will always be on my side and on our side,” she assured.
