Six Eagles players called up to national teams

Trubin and Sudakov (Ukraine), Dedic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Schjelderup (Norway), Ivanovic (Croatia), and Pavlidis (Greece), players from Benfica's professional football squad, have been called up to represent their national teams in the matches scheduled for October 2025.

In Group D of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, with Trubin and Sudakov in the squad, Ukraine travels to Reykjavik, where they will face Iceland on matchday 7 at Laugardalsvöllur Stadium (October 10, at 7:45 pm). Then, as the home team at Krakow Stadium in Poland, the Ukrainian team will host Azerbaijan in round 8, scheduled for 7:45 pm on October 13.

Dedic has been called up by Bosnia and Herzegovina for their double header against Cyprus and Malta. The first match is valid for matchday 7 of Group H qualifying for the 2026 World Cup and will take place on October 9 at the AEK Arena in Larnaca (7:45 pm). A friendly match against Malta is scheduled for October 12 at the National Stadium in Attard at 6:00 pm.

 With Schjelderup among those called up, Norway will face Israel at 5 pm on October 11. The match from gameweek 7 of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, is part of Group I, which the Norwegians lead, and will be played at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. On October 14, at the same venue and time, Norway will play a friendly match against New Zealand.

Ivanovic, called up by Croatia, which leads Group L in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, will face the Czech Republic (October 9, at 7:45 pm, at Fortuna Arena in Prague) and Gibraltar (October 12, at the same time, at Gradski Varteks Stadium in Varazdin). The matches are part of round 7 and 8 of this group.

Also in the qualifying campaign for the same competition, Pavlidis' Greece will face Scotland (October 9, at Hampden Park, Glasgow) and Denmark (October 12, at Parken Stadium, Copenhagen). Both Group C matches are scheduled for 7:45 pm.

It should also be noted that Joshua Wynder and Prestianni are playing for the United States and Argentina Under-20 national teams, respectively. The two Benfica players are competing in the World Cup for that age group, which is being held in Chile.
