The UEFA Referees Committee has appointed Polish referee Szymon Marciniak (44), who has been an international referee since 2011, to referee the Champions League league phase match between Newcastle and Benfica at 8 pm on Tuesday, October 21, at St. James' Park.

Tomasz Listkiewicz and Adam Kupsik will be the assistants, and Pawel Raczkowski the fourth official.

Tomasz Kwiatkowski will serve as the video assistant referee (VAR), and Cesar Soto Grado will be the AVAR.

At the age of 20, Ivan Lima had the opportunity to make his official debut in competition for Sport Lisboa e Benfica's first team. In Chaves, on the night of October 17, with the number 90 on the back of the Sacred Mantle, the young forward/winger trained at the Club was brought on by José Mourinho in the 90th minute and was able to participate in the Eagles' 2-0 victory in the third round of the Portuguese Cup.The match had only two minutes of added time, but Ivan Lima still managed to make his mark on the right side of the attack: he won the only duel he faced, recovered a ball, and was fouled.
