Seven players from the professional football team of Benfica were in action this Friday, September 5, with their respective national teams.

Starting for Greece (substituted in the 73rd minute), Pavlidis shone in the 5-1 victory over Belarus in the first match of Group C of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. With a well-placed header, the Benfica striker made it 2-0 (17') and added two assists. In the 3rd minute, he dribbled past two opponents and crossed with precision to Karetsas for the 1-0, and in the 63rd minute, he took advantage of a loose ball in the opponent's box and passed to Tzolis to make it 5-0.

Trubin and Sudakov were also starters in Ukraine's defeat to France (0-2). The goalkeeper played the full 90 minutes of the opening match of Group D of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, while the midfielder played 83' at the Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw (Poland).

Brought on in the 51st minute, Ivanovic played for Croatia in their 1-0 away win over the Faroe Islands in the opening match of Group L.

Obrador

In his debut for Spain's Under-21 team, Obrador stood out by opening the scoring (45'+1') in the 3-0 victory over Cyprus with a powerful shot from outside the box. The left-back, who played 90 minutes in the Group B opener of the 2027 Euro qualifiers, was also involved in the second goal, providing the cross that started the move.

A starter and captain of the United States U-20 team, Joshua Wynder scored the second goal (29') in the 4-1 win over Morocco in a friendly match in preparation for the World Cup in San Pedro del Pinatar (Spain).

Gonçalo Oliveira made his first appearance for Portugal's Under-21 team, playing 90 minutes in the 5-0 win over Azerbaijan in the first match of Group B for qualifying for Euro 2027. In the same game, João Veloso did not leave the bench.
