17th António Leitão Benfica Race was “another great success”

This Sunday, March 23, around 12,500 participants took part in the 17th António Leitão Benfica Race. Whether it was the 10km Run or the 5km Walk, the atmosphere was one of good cheer, mutual support and, above all, love for Benfica. On a Sunday that was predicted to be rainy, the sun came out, albeit shyly, and with it the heat, to help with the festivities of the 16th edition of the António Leitão Benfica Race, which once again brought together thousands of participants on Sunday, April 7.  Running or walking, in a celebration for the whole family, women, men, young people and even pets gathered around the Estádio da Luz for another lively morning, in what is already one of the most important events on the national athletics scene.

This Saturday, November 30, was a special day for the kids and adults of Arouca whose hearts beat faster for Benfica! On the occasion of the inauguration of the new Casa Benfica facilities in the town, President Rui Costa led a delegation from the club that was welcomed at the Town Hall and received a great deal of affection as they walked through the streets. The Benfica soul in all its splendor on the eve of Arouca-Benfica, matchday 12 of the Liga Betclic.

Benfica athletes Telma Monteiro and Pedro Pichardo were honored by the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) on Thursday, November 14, at the 2024 Olympic Celebration, a gala held at SUD Hall Lisbon. Judoka Telma Monteiro was awarded the Prestige Award, which honors “sports agents for the excellence, notability and prestige of their careers”. Pedro Pichardo, triple jump athlete and Paris 2024 silver medalist, received the Sports Excellence Award, which is given to “Olympic medalists, World or European Champions”. Domingos Almeida Lima, Benfica's vice-president, represented the club at the ceremony.
