Telma Monteiro's donation to the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião

On Monday, December 9, judoka Telma Monteiro announced the end of her sporting career.  It's been “24 very special years”, 17 of which have been spent with an eagle on her chest and, at the time of his farewell, there is “eternal gratitude”. “I'm ending my career exactly as I wanted to, with the feeling that I've given everything I had to give, and that everything was as it should be,” she said. Thank you, Telma!

Benfica athletes Telma Monteiro and Pedro Pichardo were honored by the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) on Thursday, November 14, at the 2024 Olympic Celebration, a gala held at SUD Hall Lisbon. Judoka Telma Monteiro was awarded the Prestige Award, which honors “sports agents for the excellence, notability and prestige of their careers”. Pedro Pichardo, triple jump athlete and Paris 2024 silver medalist, received the Sports Excellence Award, which is given to “Olympic medalists, World or European Champions”. Domingos Almeida Lima, Benfica's vice-president, represented the club at the ceremony.

On Friday, May 16, the European Night of Museums took place at the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião, which was free to enter between 6 pm and midnight and welcomed 1,166 visitors. On the day of SL Benfica's 121st anniversary, Friday, February 28, the Estádio da Luz and the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião opened their doors once again for night visits. For the 3rd month running, Stadium & Museum By Night sold out with 750 people attending. Participants were surprised by the Cathedral's nocturnal illuminations and were presented with the Club's birthday cake. At the Museum, they were able to walk through the corridors of Benfica's glorious history, and it is worth noting that the writer André Pereira was present and offered some visitors portraits written in the form of poems.
