The celebration of the Portuguese Cup

More than a victory (0-2) was celebrated at the Pavuilhão do HC Turquel: an era was celebrated. Benfica won their twelfth women's roller hockey championship with the class and confidence of those who know the way. That's 12 consecutive national titles confirming the hegemony of a team that plays with heart and soul. A generation that is already a legend!

It was with a thrilling  3-4 victory over Sporting in Game 5 of the Liga Placard play-off final that Benfica won back the competition on Sunday, June 29, at the João Rocha Pavilion - after also winning Game 1 (4-4; 3-4 ap) and Game 4 (7-5 aet) of the competition. In a match in which they had a penalty and a goal in their favor (it would have been 2-0...) reversed by the VAR, and also saw the post deny them a goal (Pavlidis' shot) and were hindered by the refereeing in relevant plays, Benfica conceded the equalizer (1-1) in the 11th minute (!) of stoppage time (90'+11'). Then, in extra time, they lost (1-3) the Portuguese Cup final against Sporting on Sunday afternoon, May 25, at the Estádio Nacional in Jamor.
