Sport Lisboa e Benfica has always had in its history a concern with its impact on society and has known how to keep up with the challenges that concern us all.
The adoption of environmental management practices has never been an exception and has always been faced in a natural and spontaneous way by SLB in its activities. We therefore know that, faced with the climate challenges that affect our planet and our daily lives, the responsibilities of the Benfica Group to contribute to reducing the impact of our activities on future generations are increased.
Our visibility in the urban community where we operate, as well as the fact that we are one of the largest sporting institutions in Europe and the world, led us to be even more demanding in being an active part of the solution. It was in this framework that in 2019 the ECO Benfica project was born.
The goal of ECO Benfica is to support the entire organization in the balanced and sustainable management of resources, monitoring the environmental performance and impact of the Benfica Group. Through various initiatives, we seek to meet the expectations of our stakeholders, and become a national and international reference also in Environmental Sustainability.
Since the first days of ECO Benfica's existence, there has been great internal and external support and enthusiasm for the projects to be implemented and their involvement.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic put us all on hold, so ECO Benfica had to wait to be able to directly involve its members and supporters in its environmental sustainability project.
Having overcome the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are back to full strength, and so this tab was created on the SL Benfica site so that everyone can be informed of the project's progress and contribute to the development of ECO Benfica.
Therefore, we invite all our stakeholders, employees and supporters to send their ideas and contributions to the email ecobenfica@slbenfica.pt.
In 2019, when the ECO Benfica project was created, Portugal entered environmental credit on May 25, 21 days earlier than in 2018.
In 2022, the country went into environmental credit on May 7...18 days earlier than in 2019.
We cannot waste any more time. With everyone's commitment, we will be Champions in Sustainability as well!
