Christy Ucheibe, a member of Benfica's women's football team, won the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) after the Nigerian national team beat their Moroccan counterparts 2-3 in a final played on Saturday, July 26.

Against the host team, the Eagles' player was a substitute in a match in which Morocco were leading 2-0. However, showing enormous resilience and the will to win, the Nigerians pulled off an epic comeback.

In the 12th and 24th minutes, Morocco went 2-0 up at half-time at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

The second half saw Nigeria justify the fact that, in the last 13 editions of this competition, they have lifted the trophy... 10 times. Okoronkwo, from the penalty spot (64'), reduced the score to 2-1, and she was also involved in the comeback goals: 2-2, scored by Ijamilusi (71'), and 2-3, scored by Echegini (88').

Christy Ucheibe has featured in five of Nigeria's six matches at the Africa Cup of Nations, playing more than 220 minutes.
