The UEFA Referees Committee has appointed English referee Michael Oliver (40), who has been an international referee since 2012, to referee the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Champions League between Benfica and Nice, at 8 pm on Wednesday, August 6, at the Grand Stade de Nice, in France.

Dan Cook and James Mainwaring will be the assistants, and Robert Jones the fourth official.

Australian Jarred Gillett will be the video assistant referee (VAR) and Englishman Peter Bankes will be the AVAR.
